Cellulite

Cellulite is the name given to the "puckering" and "dimpling" of the skin - which is often likened to "orange peel". It occurs in the subcutaneous layer - the layer of fat under the skin. It is thought to be due to lifestyle and genetic factors.

The skin is attached to the deeper structures - the fascia - by fibrous structures called "septa". As the fat cells get bigger, they push upwards and cause the septa to tighten, thus causing the 'dimple' effect on the skin. As the cells get bigger it results in lack of blood circulation which causes stagnation of metabolic waste and can lead to fibrosis.

Treatments for cellulite such as creams, lotions and even liposuction remain largely unsuccessful because they only target the appearance of cellulite. It is finally understood that the 'orange peel' affect on the surface of the skin is a symptom of an underlying cause.

Reduce Fat without Exercise

Although we all try to be happy with our own body image, if you could erase those flaws that eat away your self-confidence without surgery would you?

I'm not desperate enough to go under the knife, but being labeled as 'jelly belly' from my peers since my late teens has definitely taken its toll on my self confidence in more ways than I care to admit. Now after two children and two caesarians the uphill battle for a flat stomach seems impossible, especially with age not on my side anymore.

Admittedly my idea of exercise is chasing my 4 and 2 year old around, and the weekly walk to the shops, is not the best example of fitness. However, I have a relatively good diet, except for my regular chocolate indulgences. I've tried gyms but can always find distractions not to go. Sit-ups are the key, but I'm either too lazy, don't have time or it still hurts if I put too much pressure on my scar....excuses, excuses.

Session 1:
Feels like I've been vacuumed and pumped at the same time. Although this is a very strange feeling, it doesn't hurt and the chocolate body lotion lubricant for the pump smells delicious. You may experience some discomfort in tender areas for me it was around my caesarian scar and the middle Although on leaving the salon I was starving (didn't think treatment was good on a full stomach) as if I'd done a major workout, my appetite decreased substantially. Later that night felt a bit nauseous, probably cause no lunch. The next day a have a few round bruises, mainly on the side of my body under ribs.

Session 2:
A little disappointing, no discomfort at all this time, and barely felt like anything had happened. Appetite normal. Ate lunch prior this time so no nausea. Stomach feels no different.

Session 3:
Mild discomfort, I'm starting to feel a difference. The skin that hangs over my caesarian scar is flattening out, can this be true?Session 4:
This is my final session of testing, I'm a pro at this now, there is no discomfort and I like smelling like chocolate! I go to the bathroom when the session is over to have a look in the mirror, yes it's not my imagination this is really working, the layer of skin that looks like I was stitched up by a hack is flattening out.

It's two weeks later and I can still feel a noticeable difference. I'm planning to back and will keep you updated.
