Traditional Rhymes

Todays children are enthralled by nursery rhymes. Whether its grandma playing 'Pat a Cake', dad belting out 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' or a childrens TV presenter singing 'Do You Know the Muffin Man?' complete with all the actions, kids are immediately captivated by the words, the rhythms and the ideas of these simple rhymes that have been passed down through the centuries. And it seems that the more traditional the rhyme is, the more modern kids love it - its like theyre transported into another world, where life is simpler and sweeter and theres plenty of time for love and laughter.

Research into early childhood development has shown that nursery rhymes - like traditional stories - are a central part of a childs early learning and social development. All the Rhymes featured in the Traditional Rhymes Box Set have been carefully chosen to elicit a variety of responses in children - some songs are designed to encourage games and dancing, while others are meant to lull a child into a deep sleep. They are presented in a simple, accessible and highly appealing way that will make them a firm favourite of young children.

The rhymes are well within the developing vocal range of young children, so they can happily and easily sing along, encouraging familiarity with language and development of new concepts. Some of the delightful rhymes on Traditional Rhymes Box Set include 'This Old Man', 'Down by the Station', 'Hot Cross Buns', 'Mary, Mary Quite Contrary', 'Its Raining, Its Pouring', 'Do You Know the Muffin Man?', 'Ding Dong Dell', 'Row Row Row Your Boat', 'Wee Willy Winky' and 'The Grand Old Duke of York'.
