A new restaurant guide with a focus on vegetarian/vegan cuisine. The Melbourne Veg Food Guide explores the very best of meat-free dining in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Including over 80 easy-to-read reviews of vegetarian, vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants, this guide will help readers seek out good food no matter where they are. From the bustling inner city streets of Collingwood to the serenity of the foothills in Belgrave, The Melbourne Veg Food Guide covers it all. Melbourne was named Australia's most vegan-friendly city in 2008 and this book is testament to the amazing eating the city has to offer. This book is a must for all Victorian food-lovers and interstate visitors alike.
With growing numbers of people interested in eating more vegetarian meals, this guide fills a much-needed gap in the market, providing useful dining out information with a purely veg focus.
According to the guide's editor, Lisa Dempster, "it's an important celebration of our state's veg culture, highlighting the how diverse, innovative and varied veg dining is in Melbourne - and a way of showing that vegetarians and vegans can be foodies too!"
The guide is designed to be accessible to anyone, from vegan raw foodists to non-vegetarian people looking for somewhere to take veg family members for lunch. Readers can expect to find useful and honest reviews of vegan, vegetarian and veg-friendly eateries in Victoria, with a rating system that scores restaurants on important matters like value for money, service and food. The written reviews are more detailed and have information on stand-out dishes, drinks and notes on the dining experience.
"The emphasis is on providing information that will help readers make informed choices about where (and what!) to eat, whether they are looking for a fine dining restaurant or a place to eat and run," said Dempster.
Taking around six months to prepare, Dempster said the reviewers were "food-mad" and undertook a lot of fieldwork for each restaurant. "They did everything from eating to asking questions about the menu and finding out what other people thought of the place," she said.
Review: Handy pocket book size for quick reference to the best vegetarian food restaurants, great for travellers.
