With nearly a century of trademark hijinks and hilarity on TV, in theme parks, and at the movies, the Looney Tunes are making their much-anticipated return to the big screen.
Following the success of 2021's Space Jam: A New Legacy, the all-new animated feature Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up will premiere on March 27, 2025 in cinemas across Australia and New Zealand to coincide with April school holidays.
To mark the occasion, the teaser poster is being unveiled in anticipation of the hilarious, out-of-this-world adventure.
Gold Coast distributor Pinnacle Films, has acquired the Australia New Zealand rights to this exciting new sci-fi comedy adventure from Warner Bros. Animation. Directed by Pete Browngardt and featuring the creative team behind the critically acclaimed Looney Tunes Cartoons, Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up is the franchise's first-ever fully animated feature film.
In this adventure, iconic characters Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (voiced by Emmy-Award-winning Eric Bauza) return in an exhilarating, heartfelt buddy-comedy. When a sinister bubble-gum plot triggers an alien invasion that threatens the Earth, Daffy, Porky, and Petunia Pig must race against time to save the world, delivering the same uproarious gags and vibrant animation fans have come to love, but on an entirely new, larger scale.
"We are thrilled to bring Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up to audiences across Australia and New Zealand," says Andrew Devlin, Sales & Acquisitions Manager at Pinnacle Films. "Both countries share a deep, long-standing affection for Looney Tunes, from the classic Merrie Melodies cartoons to the huge success of Space Jam and the iconic Warner Bros. Movie World theme park on the Gold Coast. This next chapter is sure to be a hit for fans of all ages, including a whole new generation discovering these characters for the first time."
The film had its world premiere at the prestigious Annecy Animation Festival in France, where it was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. North American distributors Ketchup Entertainment are currently activating an Academy-qualifying festival run for potential 2025 Best Animated Feature consideration.
