Based on the international best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared tells the story of Alan Karlsson (ROBERT GUSTAFSSON), the hapless protagonist who has unwittingly played a key role in some of the most important and significant events of the twentieth century. Despite his old age, Alan is in good health and full of life as we follow his travels around the world in this inspirational film.
Alan Karlsson has lived a long and eventful life, but is now living in a nursing home which he believes is his last stop. As his 100th birthday approaches, a birthday party is planned at his retirement home, but rather than partying he decides to escape. With only the slippers on his feet, Alan climbs out the window and embarks on a whimsical and entirely unexpected journey. Karlsson's adventures take him on an exciting path involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash, some unpleasant criminals, a friendly hot-dog stand operator, and an elephant.
Most people would consider this an adventure of a lifetime but Alan's unbelievable life story parallels this, sharing a meal with everyone from Stalin to Truman, hitchhiking with Winston Churchill, and even travelling on a riverboat with Mao Zedong's wife.
An inspiring story to remind us that is it never too late for new beginnings, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared is a hilarious and charming adaption of the novel of the same name, available on Blu-ray™, DVD & Digital with UltraViolet™ from December 18, 2014.
