Stacey Hendrickson casper&pearl National Breast Cancer Foundation Interview
A single pair of pants that fits every shape and size has been sent between friends, who have written about their experiences while wearing the magical garment. Sound familiar? Well this is not a movie, it's a fundraising campaign by label casper&pearl for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The bright pink casper&pearl shorts are one size fits all and are currently traveling the country and the world wide web as they are worn and photographed by bloggers. The shorts are now available for sale, and 100% of funds received will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Fighting cancer is close to the heart of the up and coming label's creator, Stacey Hendrickson, whose family has been heavily affected by the disease.
"My Nanna has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, my Mum has been battling cancer for over 10 years and my Dad recently passed away after losing his fight with cancer," said Stacey.
"Raising awareness and funds for cancer research is very close to my heart and is something I am proud to be able to do through my label. About two weeks before my Dad passed away, when my Nanna was diagnosed, I told him about my idea for this campaign and he was so supportive that it makes this all the more special to me."
casper&pearl has developed a cult following in just over a year, with over 4,700 Facebook followers and over 9,200 Instagram followers. The label has been featured in national publications and international blogs as one of Australia's best up and coming designers.

Interview with Stacey Hendrickson
Question: Can you please talk us through your fundraising campaign for the National Breast Cancer Foundation?
Stacey Hendrickson: We've recently launched the 'Sisterhood of the Travelling Shorts' campaign which has seen our pink one-size-fits-all 'Traveller' shorts on an exciting journey around Australia! We sent these magical shorts to our favourite fashion bloggers; where they snapped a picture of their outfit and wrote each other letters revealing the adventures they got up to in them!
They are now on sale on www.casperandpearl.com for $60, and 100% profits go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Question: What inspired you to create this campaign?
Stacey Hendrickson: My family has had a hard run with cancer these past few years, which has seen the death of my father, as well as the hard battle with my mother and Nanna. This has really inspired me to make a difference and the only way I know how is through fashion. I had told my dad the idea not long before his passing and he was very encouraging and proud, which makes it so much more important to me.
Question: How can Australians participate in the campaign?
Stacey Hendrickson: Anyone in the world can participate by purchasing a pair of these shorts from
www.casperandpearl.com/shorts. 100% of the profits will be donated so you won't get that guilty feeling after splurging online! We'd also love to receive photos of girls wearing these shorts so feel free to send them to us and we are also taking donations!
Question: What is your main aim for the casper&pearl fundraising campaign?
Stacey Hendrickson: Our main aim is to raise funds for breast cancer research. If we sell every pair we can donate thousands of dollars which is absolutely amazing. The foundation is aiming to reach 0 deaths from Breast Cancer by 2030, this is something that will change the world and affect every family so it's crucial we all do our part to help!
Question: What was the reasoning behind creating the bright pink casper&pearl shorts?
Stacey Hendrickson: It was really important that the shorts were a bright pink, not only because it's such a cute colour, but also because it's in support of the pink ribbon that represents the NBCF.
Question: Why did you want these shorts to be worn and photographed by bloggers?
Stacey Hendrickson: Fashion blogging is such a huge part of the fashion industry and it is most importantly where I gain a lot of my inspiration! So it was really important to get my favourite Australian fashion bloggers on board rather than models, celebrities etc. The group of fashion bloggers we chose each have such a diverse style, which was very important to us so that we could show that these shorts aren't just for one kind of girl!
Question: Which bloggers have already participated in the campaign and what results have you seen?
Stacey Hendrickson: We were so blessed to have such an amazing line up, some of the sisters included Sabo Skirt, Love More, Heart + Bleecker and Le Gypsy. Next in line to receive the shorts are Shine By Three, Modern Legacy, Opinion Slave and GPVS. We have received so many amazing emails thanking and congratulating us on the fundraising campaign, which has been so heart-warming.
Question: What originally motivated you to begin casper&pearl?
Stacey Hendrickson: I have always dreamt of being a fashion designer, as I grew up I was always sketching dresses, flicking through glossy magazines and making jewellery for me and my friends. After I taught myself how to sew it just seemed like the next move as that's what I was always aiming for! It just never seemed enough to buy and appreciate fashion, I wanted to create it.
Question: How would you describe the label casper&pearl?
Stacey Hendrickson: A fun, free-spirited and well-made fashion label. We make our customers feel beautiful and dreamy.
Question: When designing for your label, where do you find inspiration?
Stacey Hendrickson: When we design a collection, we think of a character and her story. We imagine what she would wear and then start drawing from there! We gain a lot of inspiration from international runways, the 1970's, reading stories, fashion blogs and London street style.
