Rafferty's Garden Flavours of the World Range Rafferty's Garden, Australia's favourite baby food brand, has created the new Flavours of the World range to help parents avoid the fussy eating phase that's common amongst toddlers.
The range was developed in response to research suggesting babies who are exposed to a greater variety of flavours at an earlier age are less fussy eaters when they're older.
Each pouch reflects the signature dish of a different country with recipes such as Mild Chicken Green Curry, Beef Bourguignon and Teriyaki Chicken + Vegetables & Rice giving many of Rafferty's Garden's little consumers their first experience with exotic textures and tastes.
Leading dietitian Karen Kingham explains, "It's important to expose babies to a variety of flavour experiences. They might refuse a new food the first time, but keep trying, it may take up to ten times before they're ready to accept the new taste.
"We know parents often struggle to cater for fussy eaters, so by helping them introduce a variety of flavours at an early age, we're hoping that meal times will become easier for everyone" she said.
Rafferty's Garden's new Flavours of the World range is:
A great way to expand your baby's palette and overcome fussy eating

Overcoming Fussy Eating by leading Dietitian, Karen Kingham
Exposure plays a big role in the development of food preferences among babies and young children, with research telling us that the more often babies are exposed to a food the greater the chances are that they will accept and eat it.
This experience begins in-utero as the flavours of a mother's varied diet are transmitted through the amniotic fluid and 'tasted' by the developing baby.
For breast fed babies the flavour experience is continued as the flavour of breast milk reflects the variety of mum's diet. Research shows this flavour exposure may be responsible for the fact that breast fed babies tend to have better food acceptance than bottle fed babies.
It's possible that these pre-food flavour exposures prepare our babies for the culturally specific nature of the cuisine they are born into, making these flavours familiar and more likely to be accepted.
Starting first foods with babies begins with the introduction of simple flavours from individual foods. But once these first tastes are established variety is important to achieve. Dr Leann Birch, an expert on the influences of food preferences in babies and young children believes that success with food in the fussy toddler years is more likely if plenty of variety is offered from the time weaning starts.
It follows on that introducing a variety of foods that includes flavours from the family table means greater participation in family meals by babies when the time comes to lay them a place.
