Officeworks Launches -Growing Minds' App

Helping keep young minds active and engaged over the holiday period, Officeworks has launched a Growing Minds app featuring fun, cognitive learning games for primary and secondary students.

Now available on iPhone and Android, the app aims to help students ease back into school routine after the summer break.

Officeworks National Marketing Manager Karl Winther said the Growing Minds app, created in collaboration with creative digital agency DT, is designed to increase concentration and focus with fun and stimulating brain-training games.

'At Officeworks, we pride ourselves on having the best products and services for study success, but we know learning takes many forms and continues outside of the school term. The Growing Minds app shows our commitment to ensuring Australia's young minds have everything they need to develop and grow," he said.

The games are set in a number of different school-related environments, including a science lab and playground, with activities such as a dynamic card game and virtual dodgeball to keep the learning interesting.

Each game encourages students to work different cognitive functions of the brain, including memory, attention, speed, knowledge and flexibility, by presenting a variety of fun problem-solving puzzles.

'This is a first for a major Australian retailer, and unlike many other popular app games, Growing Minds nurtures brain development and prepares students for the school learning environment in an enjoyable and engaging way," Mr Winther said.

Intended for students from prep to year 12, the app intuitively increases difficulty based on the user's performance, with the games become increasingly challenging as they progress further.

To encourage repeat play, the app also rewards progress with badges which display on an -Honour Wall' to inspire students to exceed their previous score.

Available for free on iPhone and Android, Growing Minds features three different games with an additional three games that can be unlocked in Officeworks stores. Customers can go in store, and the app will geo-locate the device, unlocking the remaining three.
