Oceanworld Manly Welcomes the Endangered Sawfish

Oceanworld Manly has announced the arrival of its newest residents; three young Small Tooth Sawfish who are on a brief stopover from Cairns before heading to their new home at a Merlin Sea Life Aquarium, in one of 25 locations around the world.

While their status as critically endangered is largely a result of human impact and habitat destruction, Oceanworld Manly would like to raise awareness and educate Sydney-siders about the importance of living consciously and preserving our astoundingly unique marine life.

Measuring over 1.5 metres in length, these evolutionary marvels have adapted to live in both salt and fresh water, while their long saw-like rostrum (nose) has evolved to expertly forage for food under the sandy, silty ocean floor.

Temporarily making home in Oceanworld Manly's Tropical Reef Tank, head to the attraction now to check out the three Sawfish being fed, interacting with the other marine life and swimming around in their new habitat.
