Flamenco For Everybody Comes to Regional NSW

Flamenco For Everybody Comes to Regional NSW

FLAMENCO FOR EVERYBODY for REGIONAL NSW from 3 March
"Wonderful humour and history bring great joy. Genuine emotionality and expression." " State of the Art

Discover the toe-tapping energy of Flamenco when award-winning dancer Annalouise Paul and some of Australia's finest musicians bring Flamenco for Everybody to Regional NSW.

This red-hot, live performance features poetry, percussion, Flamenco guitar, contemporary and flamenco dance and storytelling in this spectacular, passionate and highly virtuosic show that comes to Western Riverina from 3-14 March; and Outback NSW from 1-12 April.

Outstanding performers include Flamenco veteran Robbie Varga on guitar; Ana Otero singing original cantes, flamenco poetry, virtuoso world percussion plus 'palmera' - Elena Salerna with flamenco's distinctive hand-clapping.

The spirit of music and dance uplifts and heals. After a horror run of Covid-19, harsh drought and bushfires, unemployment and isolation, Flamenco for Everybody shares a collective experience of resilience with regional communities with a show that is itself the product of the power of heart and soul over adversity!

Organically grown during imposed lockdowns, Annalouise Paul was determined to dance. She found an outdoor community veranda and local wharf to practice on for the entire year. The connection with locals was strong. She met walkers, boaties, dogs and children and one little boy on a scooter who asked, "Are you making a show? For everybody?"  And a few months later the show was born.

Flamenco for Everybody is an exhilarating live performance of Flamenco and contemporary dance, languid guitar, Spanish poetry and high-energy percussion seamlessly woven into compelling storytelling.

The show opens with Annalouise sharing her story using contemporary-Flamenco dance, sound design and video. This peaks into a full theatrical experience with sacred song and spoken word. You'll experience social, historical and cultural events that have shaped Flamenco over time through the living traditions of Andalusia; the Roma, Sephardi, Arabic and African cultures.  Flamenco For Everybody is a community response of resilience; and it is also highly innovative and energising fun. You'll love to listen but by the end, you'll want to get up and dance!

"Experience the joy of Flamenco in all its energetic foot tapping fury… It reverberated against the wooden walls of the old Drill Hall and bounced back awakening us to a call to rise and lift our spirits."" " Sydhwaney Sounds
