NAIDOC Week 2018 at Sydney Olympic Park

NAIDOC Week 2018 at Sydney Olympic Park will celebrate of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture at Jacaranda Square (behind Olympic Park railway station) on Thursday 12 July, from 11am-3pm.

The event will include educational activities exploring the Wangal people – the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of Sydney Olympic Park and surrounds – with guided mangrove walks and talks by Sydney Olympic Park Education Officers, who will explain how the Wangal people utilised natural resources from the local environment in a sustainable way for their everyday needs.

Acclaimed singer/ songwriter Leah Flanagan will perform live and the festivities will also feature a myriad of cultural activities such as weaving, story-telling and lots more.

Attendees can also enjoy free food samples of an Indigenous barbeque.

NAIDOC Week 2018 is themed Because of Her, We Can! and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have played, and continue to play, active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels.

All ages are welcome, all activities are FREE and bookings are not required.
