Lisbon's New Living Room
Upon entering Memmo Alfama, a cozy living room greets visitors in lieu of a traditional front desk. Check-in can take place anywhere in the hotel, from the bedrooms to the hotel bar, encouraging guests to feel -at home'. Books are available to borrow from the Living Room Library and an honesty fridge offering beverages is open 24-hours. The breakfast room is a stylish and comfortable space where guests gather around a communal table and help themselves from the fridge, emphasizing the home-away-from-home feeling of the hotel. Guests can also opt for a late breakfast, recommended if the previous evening was spent indulging in the local Vinho do Porto.

Revived and Restored
The hotel blends seamlessly into the surrounding buildings in perfect harmony with the neighborhood's tradition and history. A mural by the renowned young Portuguese street artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils graces the side of the building, setting the stage for the Memmo Alfama's earthy and subtle design approach. Madrid-based architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho – who also oversaw the restoration of the hotel's sister property Memmo Baleeira – led the re-design of this 19th century structure. Together with João Corrêa Nunes, Carvalho conceived of a design concept for Memmo Alfama that emphasizes tactile and long lasting materials. Abundant use of wood and warm tones create a soothing, homey ambience that balances the authentic with the contemporary. With their highquality linens, natural woods, and a rich sandy palette accented by cool grays, each room is a study in simple sophistication. Subtle details round out the experience of each room from blackout shutters that ensure a restful night's sleep to intuitive touch lighting. The Memmo Alfama's crowning architectural highlight is the hotel's
terrace that offers sweeping views over the red rooftops of Lisbon and the Tejo River.
