Melbourne Food and Wine Festival's MEL&NYC

Melbourne Food and Wine Festival's MEL&NYC

Take a bite of the Big Apple in Melbourne this winter as the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

Take a bite of the Big Apple in Melbourne this winter as the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival presents a series of international collaborations, not-to-be-missed events and tastes of NYC across Melbourne from 27 July to 12 August 2018.

On sale from today at mfwf.com.au/melnyc, the series is presented by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival as part of MEL&NYC, an unprecedented program of events curated by leading Melbourne organisations and communities to celebrate the strong cultural connections between the two global cities and coinciding with MoMA at NGV: 130 Years of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Food and Wine Victoria Executive Director, Jane Brook, said: 'Melbourne and New York are two of the world's best cities for foodies, so we're excited to bring the best of New York to Melbourne this winter.

'From iconic New York deli and steakhouse dishes to culinary experiences inspired by the extraordinary works at MoMA, Victoria's world-class food and wine industry will bring a wide variety of New York tastes to life in special events and activations across the city."

International collaborations

Brooklyn's small restaurant and wine bar The Four Horsemen features wines by growers around the world who best represent their particular terroir while using little intervention in the vineyard or the cellar. Chef Nick Curtola, who has helmed the kitchen since opening, will join forces with Melbourne's Embla in a wine mashup of biblical proportions.
Sunday 29 July, from 1pm, $75 including food and a drink on arrival

In February this year, New York's Momofuku Ko redefined accessible luxury with the opening of the Ko bar, featuring an open kitchen with just over 20 seats. The kitchen is designed as a space both for tasting menu research and development and as a playground for Ko chefs to cook and serve what they love to eat - US$7 'fried chicken (not hot)' was an early favourite. Ko Executive Chef Sean Gray and General Manager Su Wong Ruiz will be in Melbourne for the Ko bar's collaboration with Fitzroy's neighbourhood wine bar Marion.
Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 August, from 5pm, chef's menu for $110, with drinks available for purchase
Note – Reservations must be made via Marion by phone on 03 9419 6262 and payment will be taken at the time of booking.
