Mathilda's Market founder Anne Lewis says the original pieces and designs for sale will be truly stunning. "There really is no limit to the imagination and passion of our stallholders, and to the quality of their items." As the Market nears, finishing touches will be put on hand-painted and crafted toys, hand-stitched clothing, and bedroom and playroom furnishings. For shoppers, the best thing about Mathilda's Market is that all the legwork is done. Anne has been busily sourcing the most beautiful baby and kids goods, and they'll be on show at the many Markets around Australia in November!
Originating in Melbourne in early 2007 as a bi-annual market, its vast popularity means that
Mathilda's Market is now held three times a year in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra.
MEET THREE OF OUR MATHILDA'S MARKET STALLHOLDERS
In the age of email, Nathalie, a Sydney mum of three boys, wanted to re-introduce people to the joy of receiving something handcrafted in the letterbox. Her search for stylish, bright and beautiful birth announcements, birthday and christening invitations had proved fruitless - until she began creating her own! The 'Imprintables' range now extends to stunning custom designs, too.
Kate and Jacqui from Brisbane's 'Three Little Trees' create bold, striking styles to reflect and enhance the beauty of all children in this world. Jacqui & Kate are both mums and know what is practical and complements the daily activities of the little ones. They have gone to great lengths to create a range that is both sensible and stylish. Native seeds attached to the tags of all garments mean you can watch your own Three Little Trees grow!
Lou from Melbourne's 'Buttons by Lou Lou' started making beautiful, bright fabric covered button accessories in 2008 for her children's friends and her niece. They were received with sheer delight and Lou now crafts her gorgeous wares for people worldwide. Mum to two little boys, designing her range, which includes sewing buttons, hair elastics and clips, magnets, brooches, rings and earrings provides Lou with a welcome opportunity to be "girly". ou.com.au
My particular favourite was Toetum baby wear. Blending soft fabric essential for baby comfort & creative designs with vibrant colours & adventurous designs, your baby will not only wear a piece of art, but with comfort and style.
