Interview with Annie Evans
Could you tell us about Live the Life You Long For and who should read it?
Annie Evans: Life the Life You Long for is a book about the many ways in which our body speaks to us. The amazing thing is every ache and pain has a story to tell.
Today the pace of life is moving so fast, we're not even taking in what's actually happening to us. Though you may not realize it, your stress and trauma show up in your body in everyday recurring ways. The daily grind of stressful work, relationships drama's, friends that let you down and unfulfilled dreams, society expectations, what type of work you are doing, might just be making you sick.
Live the Life You Long For, tells the story of my own journey through cancer, and how I discovered the power of our life-energy to uplift restore and bring balance health and harmony back into my life. There are also a host of interesting and relatable case studies, that gives readers practical ways for self-empowerment and how by taking the time to slow down a bit and pay attention, we can discover far more about ourselves and the world around us. It brings awareness to readers in how to let go of the repeated patterns that keep us stuck.
This is a book for everyone who has the courage desire and belief in themselves to want to live life authentically.
What originally inspired you to write Live the Life You Long For?
Annie Evans: Being diagnosed with inoperable cancer several years after my mother died of cancer, was the wake up call I needed to realise that my life wasn't working. The realisation I was mirroring my mother's patterns of pain in my life, gave me the sense of urgency you get when there's a bush fire at your back door!
My cancer highlighted my buried feelings of inadequacy. I began to see how my life was dominated by feelings of being a doormat, a victim of everything going on around me. Basically I felt powerless and frustrated by life. My health was the casualty of years of these feelings.
It took the diagnosis of inoperable cancer for me to question the impact my stress levels, fluctuating emotions and unhelpful thoughts were having on my physical body. What was my body trying to tell me? What was the elongated lump of un-expressed grief and self-love buried between my lung and heart crying out for?
Answers to all these questions and much more came on my incredible journey of survival. When I started to take a close look at my life, my thoughts, my feelings I realised there was a whole lot that needed changing. Learning to say no and start to do the things I loved to do - became the foundational corner stone of my road to health, love joy and happiness.
Can you please explain how your book takes a fresh look at how unresolved emotional issues can negatively impact your body, mind and spirit?
Annie Evans: We first need to establish that all life is energy, and that we are made up of a complex array of energy systems. You get a glimpse of this when you see a chart of your energy meridians when visiting an acupuncturist, kinesiologist or reflexologist. Our energy systems influence and affect our physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual well being.
When you begin to understand the true nature and source of your life-energy and their links to your body mind and spirit you begin to glimpse who you truly are what makes you thrive, and what makes you sick. Just as we might have a residual scar on our body from an injury or operation, so too can we retain scars and blockages in our energy systems.
When you have the feeling of being stuck in a relationship or a job, you are experiencing an actual blockage in one or many of your energy centers. These blockages make it harder for your body to do its job of keeping you healthy, happy and energised. Un-locking these blockages so your life-energy can flow unimpeded through your body, means letting go of old patterns.
Why Live the Life You Long For takes a fresh look at our unresolved emotional issues, is because it's practical hands on approach is written in simple accessible language. Showing the reader the How's and Why's these blockages occur. We discover through my story how my unhelpful childhood patterns stopped me from living a happy and fulfilling life. Weaving the knowledge of our energy systems with other people's case studies, demonstrates how a healing response in the body can be activated. We all have the potential to heal ourselves.
All disease starts in your energy bodies first before it impacts your physical body. So, this makes energetic healing such a powerful tool in facilitating a healing response well before you actually get sick. You are accessing the unhelpful emotional or mental patterns at their core level well before disease manifests in your body.
I know, personally when I get a sore throat it means I am run down and over doing it; what did you find through your research that often is happening when you constantly get sore throats?
Annie Evans: Sore throats and other throat problems could indicate that you don't feel able to articulate what you want in life. So you find yourself saying yes when really you want to say no. You go along with what your boss, your partner or your parents expect of you, instead of what you want to do. If you find yourself in this space right now, it's the perfect time to start to practice saying no, and enjoying the relief and freedom that comes from doing what's right for you.
How can we learn to read the communication signals our body gives out?
Annie Evans: By taking the time to slow down and pay attention begin to notice where you connect in your body during encounters with others.
For example, if a colleague talks to you aggressively, notice where you feel the energy in your body.
When some one talks to you with respect and care, notice in your body where you feel the energy.
When you are feeling pressured by someone else's demands, notice where you feel the energy in your body.
Practicing this simple exercise, you will gradually raise your awareness of your own energy systems and the energy fields of those around you.
