Encapsulating and emotionally dark, Daniel Radcliffe stars in Kill Your Darlings a spellbinding film based on true events about love, literacy, obsession and murder. The drums of revolution are pounding as Allen Ginsberg (Radcliffe) and Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan) prepare to take on the world and defy conventions in Kill Your Darlings.
As a college freshman, Allen thought Columbia University would be the holy grail of art, intellect and culture, however he soon discovers that tradition is clashing with daring modern attitudes within its walls. Seduced by the creative drive and elusive charm of Lucien, Allen finds himself swept into a new and explosive way of writing and begins to produce work that will shock and challenge the academic world. Fascinated by Lucien, Allen is soon drawn into his hard drinking, chain smoking and jazz loving group of friends including William Burroughs (Ben Foster), David Krammer (Michael C. Hall) and Jack Kerourac (Jack Houston) who do their best to subvert authority at the University, under the guise of the 'Libertine Circle". However, as the group's relationships deepen, jealousy begins to creep through as David and Allen vie for Lucien's affections, leading to a deadly conclusion.
Liberating and disturbing, John Krokidas' debut film Kill Your Darlings will have you transfixed as you wind your way through the labyrinth of relationships and join the journey of the creative revolution. Based on a true story, Kill Your Darlings provides a rare glimpse into the pivotal year that changed Allen Ginsberg's life, and turned him into one of the world's greatest writers.
