Jimmy Barnes

*Ladies and Gentlemen, The Remarkable Jimmy Barnes returns with a knockout new album

A new single and album, 'Out In The Blue', a sold out '/a day on the green'/ tour and a permanent television hosting role on /The Know/ are just some of the activities keeping Jimmy Barnes busy.

2007 was quite a year for Jimmy Barnes, one of Australia's most admired singers, and it's not slowing down any time soon. For a man who thrives on being busy, an ordered bed rest after his heart operation in early 2007 meant Jimmy had a lot of time on his hands. The songwriting floodgates opened and Jimmy wrote his first album of original material since /Love and Fear/ seven years ago.

The ensuing album, 'Out In The Blue', is very much a rootsy, rock album with rockabilly shuffles, powerful ballads and flat chat rock & roll. It's a change in direction for Jimmy, signalling that he's had time to reflect on what is most important in his life.

Jimmy wrote the majority of songs alone, showing just how prolific he is as a musician, and the album also includes collaborations with close friends Tex Perkins and Nick Barker and a song written for him by Neil Finn.

Said to be his best album ever, 'Out In The Blue' features musicians Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), Mark Punch and Chris Haigh and was produced by Nash Chambers (Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daley) at Freight Train Studios in Sydney in September 2007. All of Jimmy's children, daughters Mahalia, E.J, and Elly-May and son Jackie, feature on the album, making it a true family affair. '*/Out In The Blue'/* hit stores 24th November 2007 and is released by Liberation.

"People say something happens from 'Out of the Blue'," says Jimmy. "Well; I felt for a long time after the operation that I wasn't coming back from 'out in the blue'. And I was in bed one night and I wrote this set of lyrics. And basically that's the story of my life - I've been out in the blue. My only lifeline has been Jane my wife. I've been out there and she helped pull me back in - and I really like being back in!"
Jimmy also joined 'The Know' - *MAX*'s weekly music, film and entertainment review show as new co-host in August 2007. Working alongside Yumi Stynes, Lisa Hensley, Chit Chat and Pete Timbs, each week Jimmy waxes lyrical about all the latest in the world of entertainment.

You'll be hard pressed not to come across Jimmy over the next few months and one thing is for sure, Jimmy Barnes is back!
