All speculation was put to rest on when it was announced Princess Kate had given birth to a baby girl at 8:34am on Saturday weighing 8lb 3oz.

Kensington Palace tweeted "Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8:34am".

London was pink in celebration with the Tower Bridge and other landmarks turned magenta in light.

Since then we've been flooded with images of gorgeous Prince George attending the hospital to meet he's new sister with father, Prince William and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posing on the steps of the St Mary's Hospital with the new addition to the royal family.

We waited in anticipation for her name to be released; in true Kate and William style we only waited two days. Whilst we waited The Queen met her new grand-grandchild and then the name of Royal Baby #2 was released to the waiting world; Her Royal Highness, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.

Prince Harry allegedly congratulated his brother and sister-in-law via phone call, whilst at an AFL match as he is in Australia on a month-long Army placement.

After much speculation over the name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is derived from many family sources;
Charlotte is Aunty Pippa Middleton's middle name and the female version of Grandfather Charles; The Prince of Wales, Charles Philip Arthur George.

Elizabeth is not only Great Grandmother's name; Elizabeth Alexandra Mary but also the middle name of mother, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton and Grandmother, Carole Elizabeth Middleton.

Of course, Diana does not need explaining. Diana of Diana, Princess of Wales; Prince William's late mother.

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is also the name of Prince William's, Uncle Charles Spencer's two year old daughter.
