English artist Storm Cizekova grew up believing her mother, Kita, died while giving birth to her, leaving her to be raised by her daunting great-grandmother and timid, confounded Nan. That is until her beloved Nan passes away and Storm discovers a photo of herself as a toddler in her mother's arms.
Delving into her hidden past, Storm uncovers her mother's diary which describes the chaotic, drug-fuelled last days of Kita's life in Australia with her toddler daughter and a man that no-one seems able to identify.
Storm leaves her home in London and her comfortable relationship with her successful boyfriend to set off across the world and follow her mother's footsteps through the harsh beauty of central Australia in a battered Kombi van.
With the vivid Australian outback as a backdrop, Storm embarks on a journey of self discovery, uncovered shocking secrets contained in a long forgotten past.
Gathering Storm is a compelling novel that explores the nature of truth, the power of lies and the damage they leave in their wake, as well as the courage it take to turn around and face the past.
