FUN4KIDS SERVES UP MORE GREAT ENTERTAINMENT IN 2009
Circus performers Pandora Pink and Mr Spin will return "down-under" from Europe to join the outrageously funny Scared Weird Little Guys and Playschool's Justine Clarke for loads of fun at the award-winning Fun4Kids Festival this year in Warrnambool.
The eight day festival - held during the winter school holidays from Sunday, June 28 to Sunday, July 5, 2009 - will showcase a jam-packed festival program, overflowing with brand new workshops and festival favourites - great fun for kids and "big kids" alike.
Set in a sprawling 2.5 acre, purpose-built indoor village, the2009 Festival will present hundreds of hours of amazing school holiday entertainment with circus skills workshops, bowling, sword- fighting sessions, dance, woodwork and loads of other opportunities for hands-on fun, running all day, everyday! Also on offer in this year's program are dance workshops with Demi from 'So You Think You Can Dance' and acrobatics workshops with stunt artists Team Loko. Ex-North Melbourne AFL player and star of Channel 9's Footy Show - Nathan Thompson will also make a special visit.
Taking centre stage will be the 'New' Dorothy the Dinosaur Show featuring everyone's favourite dinosaur and her wiggly friends - Captain Feathersword, Henry the Octopus and Wags the Dog; King of the Kids Peter Combe; Ben 10 live on stage and Alpha Shows pop-rock pantomimes - Cinderella, and their new production King Arthur. The festival will also star festival favourites such as kids' comedian & storyteller Kym Lardner, international illusionist Cosentino, master of magic Raymond Crow and many more amazing acts.
Warrnambool City Council Events and Promotions manager Lisa McLeod said she expects the festival will be very popular this year, with many people planning to holiday close to home.
"At a time when people are looking for affordable school holiday entertainment, Fun4Kids will attract a lot of visitors," said Ms McLeod. "Three of the eight days of the festival sold out last year, so people are advised not to leave ticket purchases until the last minute", she said.
Tickets are on sale now for the eight-day festival which will be held this year from Sunday, June 28 to Sunday, July 5, 2009. The event provides a truly extraordinary experience for kids aged up to 12 years and their families. Great value festival passes are available for pre-purchase before the festival starts, but numbers are limited and they do sell out.
The Fun4Kids Festival was recently awarded one of the highest honours in the Australian tourism industry - being inducted into the National Tourism Awards Hall of Fame after three consecutive wins in the best festival/event category at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Launched in 1998, the Fun4Kids Festival was conceived with the aim of celebrating the imagination and creative spirit of all children. The Festival is a not-for- profit event produced by Warrnambool City Council and supported by dedicated sponsors, an army of volunteers and the generous support of the vibrant Warrnambool community.
