Tia Maria Set to Unveil World's Largest Espresso Martini as Part of Guiness World Record Attempt to Celebrate International Coffee Day

On October 1, as part of a World Record attempt, Tia Maria is set to unveil 'The World's Largest Espresso Martini' to celebrate International Coffee Day.

Taking place at Sydney's Cruise Bar, the cocktail will stand at 2.2m tall in a custom-made glass, and hold an impressive 600 litres, the equivalent of 5,000 espresso martinis.

The World's Largest Espresso Martini Cocktail Recipe
• 286 bottles of Tia Maria Coffee Liqueur
• 286 bottles of vodka
• 200 litres of Vittoria Coffee

To kickstart the day's festivities in suitable style, Tia Maria has partnered with Australia's favourite pure coffee brand Vittoria Coffee, a third generation family business who have been roasting Arabica coffee in Australia for over 60 years, to offer free coffees between 10am and 12pm at the venue.

From 12pm, event ticket holders will be able to raise a glass to the occasion and enjoy a complimentary Tia Maria Espresso Martini before experiencing the latest in coffee cocktail innovation with an exclusive menu of coffee cocktails of the future.

As part of an ongoing mission to create coffee cocktails like no other, the event which is part of the Tia Maria Coffee Project, will showcase the Tia Popcorn Frappe, the Tia Coffee Tonic and Tia Flat White Russian.

To join the celebrations, coffee connoisseurs and cocktail lovers are invited to register here for one of the two afternoon sessions - gratis.

"The espresso martini is fast becoming the signature cocktail of Australia so where better to celebrate our commitment to making the world's best, than overlooking the iconic Sydney Opera House. As a coffee loving nation, craft cocktail culture is taking many of its cues from coffee culture and vice versa, so it's no wonder drinkers are looking to what's next as they demand new and exciting flavour profiles." Mark Hickey, Tia Maria, Brand Ambassador comments.

What's next in coffee cocktail culture?
The Tia Maria Coffee Cocktail Futures report by the Future Laboratory, predicts that in the decade ahead, a new global coffee cocktail culture will break out in society as millions of consumers with increasingly sophisticated palates and expectations demand multisensory drink experiences and opportunities enhanced by new ingredients and advanced digital technologies.

Four new tribes of drinkers will emerge:
• Sensorialists: an Instagram-mad generation who will crave experiences that heighten the senses in every way, ingredients and flavour will matter to them but so will a strong sense of theatre and ritual.
• Optimisers: will be at the forefront of Healthonism - coffee cocktails that combine fun with an ability to stop at the top of your game.
• Experimental Connoisseurs: will want to push the boundaries of taste and will be on a constant hunt for new coffee and cocktail flavours and combinations. This tribe will also pioneer the Fourth Wave of Coffee experimenting with processes, ingredients and new concoctions.
• Truth Seekers: will demand drinks that allow the true quality and origin of the ingredients to shine through, spurring a new era of cocktail creativity. Understanding the provenance and taste profile of every coffee type means they will be able to pair it with the right type of spirit and mixer to create the perfect cocktail.

Future Laboratory notes, "The coffee cocktail revolution has risen in tandem with cold brew and more experimental treatments of the traditional iced coffee." Looking ahead, coffee will be used more and more as an essential ingredient in cocktails.

David Jameson, Union Hand Roasted Coffee, comments: "You can get different coffees from the same farm, region and country, and you pair those with tonic as a lengthener and a mixer and that really makes a lot of sense. Where the Espresso Martini took the coffee cocktail to a night out in a cocktail bar, mixing with tonic transports it to a daytime barbecue or quick after work drink."
