Christmas Cookies

Little Zak's Academy, an early childcare and education provider have created an easy Christmas Cookie recipe in the lead up to the festive season, which make for a delicious snack that little ones and parents can create together.

Little Zak's also offer cooking classes for their children on-site and allows the kids to get their hands dirty to make these special festive biscuits.

Ingredients
350g plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
100g softened butter
2 tsps. ground ginger OR cinnamon
100g soft light brown sugar
1 egg
4 tbsps. golden syrup or honey
Lollies, speckles or icing tubes to decorate

Method
Grease a large baking tray and pre-heat the oven to 190°c /
Mix flour, bicarb and ginger/cinnamon in a mixing bowl and rub in the butter.
Add sugar and syrup/honey and stir in the egg to form a firm dough.
Roll out dough to ½ cm and cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
Place men on the tray, leaving space between them for spreading while cooking.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
Cool on a wire rack before decorating with desired toppings.
