Many of the much---loved cast and characters have returned and Australian audiences are set to fall in love with them all over again. With the addition of new characters like, Sir Richard Carlisle (Lady Mary's fiancé) and Miss Lavina Swire (Matthew Crawley's fiancé) Season Two is just as gripping and entertaining as Season One, justifiably earning its place in the Guinness Book of records as the "'Highest critical review ratings for a TV show".

Season Two sees the lives of the Crawley family, and the servants who work for them, changed forever since the Great War was declared in the final episode of Season One. World War One is raging in Europe and Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), the heir to Downton Abbey, is fighting in France whilst Thomas, the footman, is serving in the medical corps. Matthew's mother (Penelope Wilton) convinces Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) and his wife Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) to allow Downton Abbey to be turned into a convalescent home for officers wounded in the war, much to the dismay of Violet, the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith).

As the war wages, the love stories and drama continue with the three Crawley daughters each finding roles to play in their changed surroundings. Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) works as a nurse, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) discovers a talent for empathy and hospitality and Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) is still struggling with her feelings between Matthew Crawley and her new fiancé. In the Christmas Special episode, the final episode of Season Two, the Crawley family and staff reveal a love story perfectly wrapped up for Christmas.

Season Two does not disappoint and boasts many of the ingredients that made the first series so compelling: well---developed characters, touching love stories, workplace intrigues, contrasting lifestyles, elegant settings, gorgeous costumes; and more twists and turns than you can imagine.

Downton Abbey Season Two is available to own on Blu---rayTM and DVD from August 1st, 2012.
