DKNY Collection Hair Look
Backstage at New York Fashion Week with Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals: Creating the Hair Look for DKNY S/S '11
The Look: Soft Minimalism
The S/S '11 DKNY collection utilised strong block colors for a chic, yet youthful look. "This look portrays a new kind of feminine minimalism, as opposed to previous minimalism, which could be cold and impersonal. This new direction is more intimate and light," says Eugene Souleiman. The catwalk boasted a bold, flirty, look, prompting Eugene to opt for smaller hair, complimenting the flow of the silk scarves featured in many of the looks.
"I wanted the hair look to be simple, but at the same time look like it had been considered and thought about. This is why I went for details like the curved side parting, which accentuates the curve of the head and is a much softer option. I also wanted to keep the front of the hair look minimal to expose the neck and create the point of interest at the back of the head," says Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals, Care and Styling.
Get the Look:
Apply Crystal Styler from the new Wella Professionals High Hair range to freshly washed hair, followed by Wella Professionals High Hair Finishing Spray to the roots of wet hair. Blow dry with a round brush to give direction and hold, dry hair flat to the head for a more sculpted finish. Create a curved part by parting hair at the side of the head, and softly curving it round to the opposite side of the head. Brush hair down and over the ears and tie in a pony tail at the nape of the neck. Finally, fold the pony tail over on itself to create a lopsided knot.
