Crooked Thieves Single Launch

Crooked Thieves Single Launch

Ahead of their debut single Dancing in the Crowd, the Fitzroy based two-piece formerly known as The Onetimes, has been reborn as Crooked Thieves. To coincide with their single, released through new independent label The Collective, the freshly minted Crooked Thieves will be playing their first headline show on the 17th of August at the Penny Black in Brunswick. Teaming with the band at the showcase will be fellow Melbourne Alt-Rockers Mantell and SNDWNR.

Crooked Thieves prove to be an imitable force both in the studio and on-stage. In a style reminiscent of classic bands such as Metallica, Nirvana and Silverchair, Crooked Thieves are a stellar combination of alternative and hard rock. Monolithic-sized riffs, primal drums and an energised stage performance to match. All of these combine for a tried and true formula, one which Crooked Thieves deliver in spades.

Lead by lead vocalist and guitarist Shane and bassist Emma, and joined by a crew of supporting musicians, Crooked Thieves have spent the last year and a half cutting their teeth on the Melbourne live music scene, supporting local acts such as Grasshole, The Strangers in Town, Offspring of Convicts, and Mannequin Death Squad. For those who have been following the band since its inception, this first headline show and release have been hotly anticipated. Crooked Thieves aren't just bursting on the scene, they're kicking down the doors.

Crooked Thieves can trace their history back to 2011, when Emma and Shane crossed paths, meeting at a Violent Soho gig in their home state of Queensland. Subsequently joining the band Dameena, they forged a musical chemistry before going on to form The Onetimes in early 2017.

July 2018 will see Crooked Thieves release their debut single and music video for Dancing in the Crowd, with a follow-up EP to come later in the year. Stay tuned.
