Carriageworks Farmers Market

Carriageworks Farmers Market, the weekly Saturday market providing the freshest seasonal produce from the best growers and producers from around NSW, has revealed two new stallholders and Spring seasonal highlights including products from Australia's first seaweed farmer Pia Winberg and acclaimed Berkelo bakery's new inner west offering.

The Carriageworks Farmers Market is a much-loved destination for Sydney residents and visitors that offers the opportunity to learn about the origin of local seasonal produce by purchasing directly from the farmers, chefs and artisan producers who grow, rear or prepare it.

Carriageworks Farmers Market Creative Director Mike McEnearney said, "With Spring arriving we're excited to welcome a number of new stallholders to the Carriageworks Farmers Market. We are also seeing some incredible new seasonal produce including Globe Artichokes, asparagus and fresh Carriageworks honey sourced from our onsite beehives. As the seasons change we want to bolster our immune systems and make the most of seasonal pairings – you can read our seasonal guide for more tips – and we can't wait to help visitors explore all that Spring has to offer."

A number of new stallholders will be joining the Farmers Market this Spring including Australia's first seaweed farmer Pia Winberg, offering a unique range of seaweed-based food products. Ranging from muesli to pasta, Winberg's Phycohealth range looks to change global health by introducing seaweed into our daily diet.

Acclaimed northern Sydney bakery Berkelo joins the market with their range of sourdough and other baked goods, as well as fresh nutritious unbleached 100% Australian stoneground flour made in their in-house stone mill, one of the only stone mills existing in NSW.

Carriageworks Farmers Market is home to many of the state's best farmers and producers including winners from each category of the 2020 Delicious Produce Awards – dairy, earth, land and sea - such as Pecora Dairy's ewes milk cheese, traditional farmhouse cheeses from The Pines Kiama or Vannella Cheese's buffalo mozzarella; Andean Sunrise potatoes from The Gourmet PotatoKadwell, Mimosa Rock Oysters and Moorlands biodynamic lamb

Spring seasonal highlights at the Carriageworks Farmers Markets include:
• The oyster season runs from September to March. Visitors can purchase some of NSW's most acclaimed oysters, harvested from Nelson Lagoon, South Coast.

Globe Artichokes, Hass and Sharwill Avocadoes and New season garlic.
Blood oranges have a very short run from mid-August until October.
Asparagus, peas and broad beans all contain vitamins A, B complex and C that are anti-inflammatories and help the body to develop immunity.
Fresh Carriageworks honey from the onsite beehives managed by Urban Bee Hives.

While food is takeaway only due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitors can purchase a range of convenient new ready-to-eat and cook-at-home offerings from stallholders such as Bar Pho, Two Good Co and Food by Fiat.

The food program of Masterclass demos and tastings is also on hold, but patrons can access a wide range of recipes, meet the producer profiles and instructional videos on the Carriageworks Farmers Market webpage.

Strict health and safety measures remain in place at the Carriageworks Farmers Market and, in light of current Covid-19 conditions, the markets will continue to operate as a strict shop-and-go service for the community.

Carriageworks is pleased to partner with SMEG, a global leader much loved in Australia, to deliver a program that connects communities with chefs and producers.
