Beerenberg's Sauce and Coopers Ale- So good they bottled it
Two of Australia's iconic family companies have joined forces to bottle the ingredients for the world's greatest barbeque - beer and sauce.
Beerenberg Coopers Ale Barbeque Sauce is the result of a unique collaboration between one of the country's best know brewers, Coopers Brewery, and sixth generation sauce and jam producer, Beerenberg Farm.
Collaborators Coopers Brewery Managing Director, Dr Tim Cooper, and Beerenberg Farm boss Anthony Paech say the circumstances that spawned the idea were far from serious- a few beers around the Barbie- but the result is a seriously good barbeque sauce.
"Beer and barbeques are just such a perfect match that it seemed natural to team them together in a true-blue Aussie sauce. Australia has been lacking an iconic barbeque sauce and we believe we've now created the barbeque sauce that will become a national icon. Being a well-known locally-owned family company just like ours made Coopers the natural choice for this venture and the result is a great tasting sauce that brings back the flavour of a good old fashioned Aussie Barbie- all you need to do is add meat!"
Beerenberg Coopers Ale Barbeque Sauce is the boutique producer's newest addition to its range of 50 products including jams, marmalades, condiments and marinades.
The ingredients- known only to Coopers and Beerenberg- have combined to create an exciting sauce with exactly the right balance of beer, spice and fruit perfectly suited to the Aussie barbeque.
And more good news- it's only the taste that will intoxicate you because the alcohol is boiled off during cooking, leaving just a subtle malty flavour and bitterness from the hops in the beer.
Managing Director of Beerenberg Farm, Mr Anthony Paech, said the company was a proud all-Australian brand and the Beerenberg Coopers Ale Barbeque Sauce was a perfect accompaniment to any food cooked on the barbeque.
"We pride ourselves on the naturalness, authentic flavour and texture of all our products and the collaboration of Coopers and Beerenberg to produce Beerenberg Coopers Ale Barbeque Sauce is a real coup."
"We have always made our products on our farm in the Adelaide Hills and still cook in open steam kettles, a process which gives our products their home-cooked look and taste."
Six successive generations of the Paech family have owned and worked on Beerenberg Farm- a working 100 hectare farm in Hahndorf, 25km from Adelaide- since migrating from Germany in 1838.
Beerenberg's products are sold nationally, exported to the Asian Pacific, served in leading hotels across the world, and on QANTAS, Singapore, Emirates and Malaysia airlines.
Coopers Brewery has a rich history spanning five generations of Cooper family brewers from its origins in 1862 to the present day. The company's Ales, Stouts and lagers are produced using only natural ingredients including malt, hops, sugar, water and a special yeast strain that's over 90 years old. Coopers does not use preservatives or chemicals in its ale range.
