Becky Lucas - My Neck, My Back

Becky Lucas - My Neck, My Back

Comedian, writer, performer and rat, Becky Lucas, isn't letting 2020 off the hook, returning to stand up stages around the country with her cutting tongue and a brand new show, My Neck, My Back.

A fearsome girl-next-door, Becky kicks off her national tour at the 2020 Adelaide Fringe on February 25, before taking My Neck, My Back on the annual comedy rodeo to Brisbane Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and the Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals until May.

Still reeling from being called 'ma'am' while purchasing a packet of hot Cheetos and a Maxibon at the local convenience store, Becky was reminded that she had to come up with a title and blurb for this year's show.

"Urgh it truly is hard being a woman in comedy I thought, sucking the Cheetos dust off my ring finger and thumb. Anyway, I wrote most of these jokes in my head whilst sitting at the pub being lectured to about data mining by a guy with stick 'n' poke tattoos and bad breath. I think it's a good show, but please don't come if your favourite comedian is Stephen Fry or if you quote-tweet things with 'let this sink in'. I'm a stupid bitch and I've never pretended to be otherwise."

Becky has spent years writing and performing stand-up and in the last year alone has performed solo shows at the Sydney Opera House, made her US TV late night stand-up debut on Conan (after opening for him at his first comedy show outside the US at Sydney's State Theatre in early 2019, and performed at the prestigious Just for Laughs Montreal Festival.

Lucas has been performing shows to sold-out crowds in Australia, NZ and overseas for years, including the Edinburgh Festival. When she's not on stage, Becky is all over the small screen. As well as her TV debut on Conan, which made her the first female Australian to feature on the show, she is also a regular on the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival's annual televised Oxfam Gala and Comedy Up Late series which both air on ABC TV. Her other credits include Hughesy We Have A Problem, Big Bad Love, Best of the Sydney Fest, JFL's The Stand Up Series, Fancy Boy, Share This, and 7 Days in NZ.

As a writer, Becky's credits include co-writing Matt Okine's STAN comedy series The Other Guy (S1 & the soon-to-be-released S2), as well as Josh Thomas's hit series, Please Like Me. When she's not on Instagram (she was famously banned from Twitter over a Scott Morrison beheading joke), Becky has a podcast with her favourite toxic soulmate, comedian Cameron James, who is also her co-writer/co-creator/co-star of Be Your Own Boss, which screened on ABC TV's Fresh Blood series in 2018.

Becky's never been more lethal - don't miss her in 2020.
