Athron Taming Butterflies

Athron Taming Butterflies
Softly woven acoustic tunes combined with raw lyrics, smooth melodies and layered with a thick vocal presence, Athron brings us a rich blend of emotive sounds to guarantee satisfaction for the senses.

With a wide range of experience as a vocalist and songwriter for various original acts since age 15, Athron has emerged as a solo artist with a style that is both unique and captivating to the soul, producing a personal sound that leaves a lasting impression.

Taming Butterflies is Athrons first full length solo album, and brings together the diversity of styles that has grown into his songwriting since it first began. Songs on the album span a mixed palette of stories and emotions, moving from personal experiences to political tongue in cheek, from dark tragedy to sweet lessons for the soul. Throughout Taming Butterflies length, moods are set for the listener to follow. It is a raw journey that leans into dark spaces, yet holds a feeling of self assurance and sweet confidence that keeps the listener involved musically and emotionally.

The name of the album is a reference to Athrons childhood diary inscriptions, where thoughts were represented by butterflies. Taming butterflies was a name chosen to signify the album as itself being a diary of sorts, detailing times experienced and songs written over the good part of Athrons adult life.

The album is also Australia's very first certified carbon neutral release. In conjunction with Gigpiglet Recordings, environmental company 'Easy Being Green' has produced a calculator to offset the amount of carbon waste generated in the recording, production, distribution and marketing of the release through investment in community-based energy-saving initiatives. The technology is now available for all record companies wanting to go green.

Its about individuals and businesses taking easy steps to make a big difference globally. One such supported project is in Forbes NSW. Easy Being Green is working with the local council, businesses and the State Emergency Services to make Forbes a Climate Saving Town. Local SES volunteers are replacing old incandescent light globes for energy efficient ones in homes and businesses throughout the township. Installing energy efficient light globes in half the homes and businesses will save 3430 tonnes of CO2 every year, which is equivalent to taking

680 cars off the road.

On the live scene, Athron performs both solo and with a full band called Athron and the Kind Souls. This is a mixed cast of up to 8 musicians that he has played with over the years, comprising of cello, bass, drums, percussion, horns and backing vocalists. With this mix of sounds a live show can range from a quiet personal affair, to a full stage of entertainment and shared musical talent.
