2012 Guardian Angel Knitting Program

Guardian Pharmacy is once again holding their Guardian Angel Knitting Program for the 14th year running. The program runs throughout the winter months from June to August.

Each year the Guardian Angel Knitting Program encourages knitters of all levels - from novices to nannas, children to DIY fashion pros - to pick up sticks, hone their skills and donate their woollen creations to Australians in need. Knitted items include clothes, blankets, scarves, beanies and other garments.

Guardian Pharmacy is proud to once again partner with Variety - the Children's Charity, a national not-forprofit organisation empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

Variety General Manager, Rod Dalglish, says: "We are excited to partner with the Guardian Angel KnittingProgram to help children and families who are experiencing difficult times across Australia, and we are encouraging all Australians to knit for children in need."

Spotlight has again joined the campaign as a partner, supplying patterns and discounts on wool through the 2012 Guardian Angel Knitting Book.

"Spotlight is again proud to be supporting the Guardian Angel campaign and encourages everyone to pick up their needles and yarn and get knitting!" says Eva Daly, Communications Manager, Spotlight.

In 2011, over 55,000 beautifully knitted garments were donated to kids doing it tough in winter, through the Guardian Angel Program. That's using around 40,000km of yarn - enough to stretch around the entire earth!

"We are encouraging everyone, young and old, to take flight as a Guardian Angel this winter and support children in need," says Sarah Williams, Marketing Communications Manager for Guardian Pharmacy.
"The Guardian Angel Knitting Program is testament to Guardian Pharmacy's commitment to supporting the local communities in which we operate," Ms Williams continued.

People wanting to become a 'Guardian Angel' can visit their local Guardian Pharmacy to pick up a free pattern book, with step-by-step instructions for a number of different garments to knit.
