Thousands of families will converge on Luna Park on Wednesday 25 March to celebrate World's Biggest Playgroup Day, a free community event hosted by Playgroup NSW.
The event is an annual highlight of National Playgroup Week, which recognises the integral role of playgroup in children's development and wellbeing.
Luna Park is opening its doors exclusively for Playgroup NSW to support the organisation's signature ultimate day out for families.
Showcasing the diverse play activities playgroup has on offer, the event will be jam-packed with fun, creative, active and educational activities including:
Face painting with Colour Me Live
Playgroup NSW playdough and sand play stations
An Educational Experience baby play area
Goal kicking with Ready Steady Go Kids
Craft activity with Australian museum
A Crayola colouring marquee
With performances by Jay Laga'aia, Lah-Lah's Big Live band, Dorothy the Dinosaur's Dance Party and LazyTown Dance Fiesta, there's something for everyone. Captain Barnacles from Octonauts Live! will also be making a special appearance.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will launch its Fox Family Fun Zone and the release of its free personalised character labels promotion at Luna Park on the day. Families will have the chance to meet popular Ice Age stars Sid and Scrat, watch kid's films and win movie packs.
Playgroup NSW CEO Karen Bevan said 'World's Biggest Playgroup Day celebrates the vital role of playgroup for Australian families and communities. Playgroup provides opportunities for children 0-5 to socialise and connect with other children which is important for their development, and also provides opportunities to learn through diverse and engaging play."
Running parallel to the event will be a policy forum hosted by Playgroup NSW, with key partners in attendance, to discuss the critical role of playgroup in the social infrastructure of NSW. Up for discussion will be Playgroup NSW's plans to map and benchmark playgroup participation by children and their families to better inform policy, resourcing and playgroup development. Karen Bevan, CEO of Playgroup NSW and partners will speak at the event.
World's Biggest Playgroup Day is open to Playgroup NSW members and their friends and families.
