World Record Attempt: Hula Hoops

Western Australian hooping coach Bree Kirk-Burnnand will make an attempt to set a new world record for most hula hoops spun simultaneously by an individual on Thursday 12 November 2015, hosted by Central Park in Perth's CBD.

The current Guinness World Record is 162 hoops at one time. This record was only recently set in September 2015.

'Three years ago I went to a hula hooping fitness class on a whim," said Bree. 'It was the most fun I had ever had while keeping fit and I was instantly hooked. I couldn't believe the results from having so much fun after losing 5kg in the first five months!

'By challenging the hooping world record I'm hoping to inspire others to follow their passions in the same way I did when left my 10-year accounting career to pursue my passion for hula hooping."

'Now I teach HoopFit full time through my program Happy Health Hoops here in WA and I love sharing fun and the added bonus of fitness with so many others. I am not a fitness junkie I am a fun junkie."

This world record attempt has been made possible by the support of Bupa.

'Bupa are proud to support Bree and will be there to cheer her along and watch her enter into the record books."

'At Bupa, we believe in supporting programs and initiatives that help the community live longer, healthier, happier lives. We are committed to building partnerships with organisations that share the same values and who are focussed on bringing positive change to the lives of all Australians."

Bree is the founder of the WA-based HoopFit program Happy Healthy Hoops and she trains at Goodlife Gyms. She is currently a world record holder as part of a group, which spun the most hoops simultaneously as a group.
