Wiz Khalifa at Optus RockCorps 2015

Announced today, US hip hop star Wiz Khalifa is set to take the Sydney stage at The Big Top Luna Park on September 30 for Optus RockCorps 2015.

 

Now in its third year in Australia, Optus' flagship volunteering initiative will treat young Australians to a unique performance with the -Black and Yellow' star as a reward for their contribution to local communities.

 

The rap sensation will perform to over 3,000 volunteers who donate four hours of their time to earn money can't buy tickets to the exclusive concert. You can't buy a ticket, you can't win a ticket, you have to earn a ticket.

 

The Pittsburgh native, Wiz Khalifa said, "I'm excited to be part of the Optus RockCorps Project. Giving back to the community is something I'm passionate about and support wherever I can. I can't wait to play in Sydney and see all the Aussie fans."

 

Also performing at the event will be acclaimed Australian electronic music act Peking Duk, bringing their hit songs including 'High", 'Take Me Over" and 'Say My Name" to the local Sydney crowd.

 

Peking Duk's Adam Hyde said, 'We really admire young Australians for giving back to their community and look forward to mixing up a different show for them at Optus RockCorps."

Luke Tehan, MD of RockCorps Australia said, 'We are really excited to be announcing the 2015 Optus RockCorps programme today and the continuation of our special partnership with Optus. The last 2 years were fantastic with over 9,500 youth volunteering to see 4 amazing gigs across Australia. This year at the Big Top at Luna Park is going to be even bigger and better. We are working with some brilliant community partners and can't wait to see people down at the volunteer projects, giving their time to earn their ticket to this exclusive event. With Wiz Khalifa and Peking Duk on board so far, the 2015 gig is going to be incredible."

 

Other artists are set to be announced in the coming weeks, providing volunteers with the unique opportunity to be involved in a volunteer only concert experience.
