Off the Map Travel are proud to launch a new Arctic glamping experience under the Arctic midnight sun where guests will stay in a Lavvu, an indigenous Sami tepee, next to white sandy beaches and clear turquoise seas. The new experience also includes the chance to fish for your dinner and learn traditional Scandinavian wilderness cooking – all located above the Arctic Circle!
The new glamping eco-camp is pitched in one of the world's most spectacular wilderness locations in the Lofoten Islands on the banks of one of Norway's most picturesque fjords framed by the Arctic peaks beyond; this is an Arctic gem in Northern Norway.
As the Lofoten Islands are sat at 68° North, above the Arctic Circle, the camp also allows guests to experience the long Arctic summer days – and even the 24 hours of uninterrupted Midnight Sun in June and July.
Founder of Off the Map Travel and Arctic travel expert, Jonny Cooper, said; "The seven peaks of the traditional Sami Lavvu rise like mountain peaks echoing the rugged landscape, but when inside, the glamping experience uses comfortable beds, fine linens and traditional Scandinavian design that bring a touch of luxury to every guests stay."
In Lofoten, the summer brings comfortable 15°c temperatures and the turquoise waters of the sea invite you to explore the fjords from both the land and water.
Another new addition offered by Off the Map Travel includes the chance to join a 'fish to dish' experience taking guests to the best fishing spots to catch dinner and then join the camp's chef on a wilderness cooking course. Jonny Cooper adds; "Not only will guests learn how to prepare their catch, but they also forage for wild berries and herbs to create local dishes for a final Scandinavian feast."
The camp boasts sustainable policies which all but take you off-grid, without compromising your luxury experience. Stephanie Milne, founder of the project, said; "Eco-tourism lets people experience nature in a transformative way. By encouraging people to connect with nature, we support local communities while increasing environmental awareness and protection. By involving our guests in our research, we hope they feel more invested in the future health of our planet."
For those wanting to give a little back to the island, guests staying at the camp can also join a Beach Clean-Up including a presentation about major impacts of plastic in our oceans.
While all Off the Map Travel holidays are tailor-made to suit the requirements of each guest, a two-night, three-day glamping experience available from June to August starts from £1499 per person based on two adults travelling on a full board basis. This includes two nights of glam-camping, a Trollfjord and wildlife cruise, a visit to goat farm, Lofotr Viking Museum visits, kayaking experience and a fjords hike. Not including flights.
Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, added; "This is one of the most stunning glamping spots we've ever found. When you think of the Arctic, white sandy beaches and crystal clear aqua seas are not the first thing that come to mind, however glamping in Lofoten has it all."
