ANZAC - The Legends of Gallipoli Lectures

January 6, 9, 13 & 15

Albany, Australia's South West

The Legends of Gallipoli Lectures is a series of four lectures that will provide a focus for debate and discussion about the circumstances surrounding the Gallipoli campaign. The lectures will be presented by Professor Peter Stanley, Professor Graham Seal, Dr John Moses and Mr Ron Bodycoat. The lectures will be followed by light refreshments where audience members have the opportunity to discuss the lecture content with the speaker. The event will take place at Albany Town Hall.

Western Australian Circus Festival

This event, held in WA's South West, is a three day celebration of circus with performances from midday to midnight on all three days. Boyup Brook Country Music Festival

Boyup Brook, Australia's South West

The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is WA's premier country music event. The festival is held in the picturesque South West town of Boyup Brook every February. Nannup Music Festival

February 27 – March 2

Nannup, Australia's South West

Nannup Music Festival is a vibrant weekend full of fun and entertainment for the whole family and showcases national and international musical talent, including Siobhan Cotchin, Hey Geronimo, Rose Parker and Phoebe Corke, The Darling Downs and Jordie Lane. Great Southern Sustainable Living Festival

Great Southern, Australia's South West

Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe

Sculpture by the Sea returns to Cottesloe Beach for its 11th annual exhibition in 2015. One of Perth's largest free public events, Sculpture by the Sea transforms Cottesloe Beach into a sculpture park with more than 70 sculptures on display from artists across Australia and the world. Enjoy exhibits from some of the world's top sculptors against a backdrop of one of the city's most popular beaches.

Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest

Mandurah, Experience Perth

The Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest is Mandurah's premier annual event, which was enjoyed by more than 140,000 visitors in 2014. Year after year, the Crab Fest showcases the vibrant foreshores, Mandjar Square, arts and cultural precincts and Mandurah's jewel in the crown and the beautiful Peel-Harvey Estuary. With a variety of stalls, exhibitions, games and rides there is something for everyone at this family fun day. Mandurah is located south of Perth, around a 65 minute drive, or 50 minute train ride.

Anzac Centenary

April 25

All of State

Between 2014 and 2018, Australia and New Zealand will commemorate the Anzac Centenary, marking 100 years since their involvement in World War I. Located in WA's South West, Albany was the location where the first convoy of Australian and New Zealand troops departed for the First World War. A range of commemorative events will be held across WA to mark the Anzac Centenary and pay respect to Australian service men and women.

ANZAC - A Tribute to the ANZACs by Albany Light Opera and Theatre Company

April 12 – 13

Albany, Australia's South West

A Tribute to the ANZACs by Albany Light Opera and Theatre Company is a two hour concert hour concert which will pay homage to the sacrifices of those who fought in World War I. The concert is open to the general public at a small price, with all proceeds being donated to the Returned and Services League and/or Legacy. The event will be held at the Albert Hall in Albany.

ANZAC - The Dreaming Hill

April 23 – 26

Albany, Australia's South West

The Dreaming Hill is a theatrical production examining the stories of young Australian soldiers and nurses on the Greek Islands of Lemnos, awaiting deployment at the battlefields of Gallipoli. There will be six performances in total; two matinees and four evening shows. The event will take place outside the Western Australian Museum in Albany, in front of the Residency building.

ANZAC - A Salutation to ANZACs

April 25

Albany, Australia's South West

A Salutation to ANZACs is a project involving the talents of the Albany youth with the guidance of street artists to create a 268 square metre wall mural. Local schools will also be encouraged to submit artwork and poetry over the ANZAC long weekend for judging by the Returned and Services League members. The unveiling of the artwork will take place on 25 April 2015 at the Dog Rock Shopping Complex in Albany.

Fremantle Street Arts Festival

Fremantle, Experience Perth

The Fremantle Street Arts Festival is set to bring some of the world's best street, outdoor theatre, music, comedy, circus and cabaret performers to this iconic port city over the Easter long weekend.  With artists coming to Fremantle from all over the world, you can expect a diverse range of top-class performances from a human knot to giant roving dinosaurs.

Vancouver Street Festival

The Vancouver Street Festival is a large-scale street festival held in conjunction with the Western Australia Heritage Festival. The event will focus on the historic Vancouver Street in Albany with a program featuring music, markets, heritage tours, visual arts, street entertainment and Great Southern food and wine.

Moondyne Festival

Once again the town of Toodyay steps back in time to celebrate the annual Moondyne Festival, bringing infamous Moondyne Joe and his various escapades back to life. The Moondyne Festival is a display of life during the pioneer years from the re-enactment of the 1860 Rifle Regiment to the grace and favour of the enchanting Clydesdale horses. The Barramundi Dreaming

The Barramundi Dreaming is an annual community event held in the East Kimberley in WA's North West. The event showcases local Aboriginal talent in a variety of genres such as music, dance, art and culture, providing the opportunity for local artists to experience performing, teaching and exhibiting to a large audience. Activities include basket weaving, bush toy making, Indigenous painting and textiles, jewellery making, didgeridoo and wood carving, hip hop, arts media, modelling, basketball and barramundi fishing tours.

2015 Mount Magnet Astro Rocks Fest

The Mount Magnet Astro Rocks Fest includes Aboriginal rock art workshops, rock collection displays, astro photography viewing and presentations and night sky observing with Aboriginal interpretation. Mowanjum Festival

A public concert featuring more than 200 Aboriginal performers from across the Kimberley region. The festival is a celebration of Indigenous cultural life for the people of the Kimberley, in particular the Worora, Ngarinyin and Wunumbul people involving dance, music, song, story and art. Prior to the performance, free afternoon workshops are held by Aboriginal artists which include Boab Nut carving, Ochre painting and Didgeridoo playing.

Hopman Cup

Perth's premier tennis tournament showcases top international talent at the state-of-the-art Perth Arena. In total, nine of the world's current top 20 players, including three top-ten women, will start the tennis season in Western Australia. BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series

A festival of water-based sport featuring one of the world's richest international swimming meets. The BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series features some of Australia's finest swimmers, and is the only annual event in Australia featuring the national swim team and water polo team competing on the same stage. ICC Cricket World Cup

Velofest is WA's only dedicated cycling festival, running in March 2015. Velofest is made up of the Telethon Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma, the UWCT Perth and the Woodside Tour de Perth. The UCI World Cycling Tour (UWCT) is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. The UWCT Perth is a masters qualifying event leading to the UWCT Final. The UWCT Perth attracts amateur cyclists from Australia and overseas as it offers a Time Trial at Rottnest Island and a 113 kilometre Gran Fondo.

Chasing the Sun Golf Festival

Goldfields-Esperance, Australia's Golden Outback

Chasing the Sun Golf Festival is a week-long 1,365km journey beginning at the Ceduna Golf Course, South Australia and travelling along the Eyre Highway. The event involves playing along the world's longest golf course - Nullarbor Links. The festival also incorporates a cabaret show at Fowlers Bay and Kalgoorlie, whale watching along the Nullarbor, a treasure hunt and a 12.5km charity dash to the WA border from Eucla.

The Margaret River Pro is WA's premier surfing event. ANZAC - Sail Albany

April 17 – 28

Sail Albany 2015 is a festival which starts with the Fremantle to Albany Yacht Race and ends with the Albany to Fremantle Anzac Commemorative Yacht Race. The Anzac Commemorative Yacht Race will begin on Anzac Day and local schools will be invited to adopt-a-yacht, with each yacht being assigned an Anzac Troop Ship. At the Regional Schools ANZAC Day Service, yacht representatives will be presented with their troop ship emblem. Students will then follow their adopted yacht/ship via the satellite trackers whilst learning about the troop ships.

York Motorcycle Festival

April 18 – 19

York Motorcycle Festival is held on Avon Terrace, York. Market and trade stalls will be set up along the street displaying a range of products and services. Highlights include live music and family entertainment, exciting freestyle motocross demonstrations, trial demonstrations, junior moto gymkhana, custom bike displays and raffles. The festival is a free family event run to support charity.

SunSmart Busselton Festival of Triathlon

April 30 – May 3

Busselton, Australia's South West

The popular SunSmart Busselton Festival of Triathlon is a three day festival incorporating the Busselton IronMan 70.3 triathlon which provides a challenging course for competitors. Participants will swim 1.9 kilometres, ride 90.1 kilometres and run 21.1 kilometres. The festival will also hold the SunSmart Kids Triathlon for seven to 15 year olds.

Goldfields Cyclassic

May 29 – 31

Leonora, Australia's Golden Outback

The Goldfields Cyclassic is billed as 'Australia's Richest Handicap Cycle Race", and features a two-stage cycle race across the Goldfields. It starts in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and heads 132 kilometres north to Menzies. Stage two leaves Menzies and heads on to Leonora the following day. As a handicap event, it attracts all manner of cyclists - from the professional riders to the weekend enthusiasts - all with an equal chance to take home a substantial prize purse.

Leonora Golden Gift

A truly unique event held in the WA outback. Albany Urban Downhill

Albany Urban Downhill features mountain bikers racing from the Princess Royal Harbour through the streets of Albany ending at the ANZAC Peace Park. The endurance event on Saturday afternoon has participants competing in a -King of the Mountain' style race, riding from the base of Mount Clarence to the summit in a test of fitness and skill.

 

Broome Racing Season (Country Cups)

May 30 to 15 August

When thinking of escaping the winter blues to enjoy Broome's sunshine, make sure you plan to visit during the Broome's Racing season and experience unique competitive racing just a stone's throw from Broome's famous Cable Beach.  Book early if planning to attend the Broome Cup Carnival. Dress up for Ladies Day on Tuesday, 11 August 2015 and finish off with the biggest event on the Broome Racing Calendar, the Broome Cup on Saturday, 15 August 2015.
