The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) presents Notes on Pictures, a screening and Q&A with improvised music video creator, Vincent Moon, on Sunday 15 January 2012.
The nomadic French filmmaker will screen his short films in ACMI's intimate Studio 1 before a discussion of his pioneering work in music and the moving image.
The screening will include selected videos from Take Away Shows, an ongoing series of outdoor or 'wild' documentaries cut together from improvised video sessions with musicians shot around the world. Musicians who have featured in this series since it began in 2006 include; Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, Grizzly Bear, Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes, Sigur Ros, Noah and the Whale, Bon Iver, The Shins, Japanese 'extreme folk' singer Kazuki Tomokawa and Australia's own Architecture in Helsinki. There are now over 200 videos in Moon's Take Away Shows collection.
