Celebrate all things Viking at the Australian National Maritime Museum in a special weekend of Viking fun activities for all the family.
Inspired by the major exhibition Vikings – Beyond the legend, which debunks the myths about Vikings through over 500 rare treasures, families can immerse themselves in the Viking world in a special torchlight exhibition tour on Saturday 18 January followed by a Viking family fun day on Sunday 19 January
FAMILY TORCHLIGHT TOUR: VIKINGS AFTER DARK
Saturday 18 January 2014: 6pm – 7.30 pm
Delve into the world of Viking myth and legend in a special character tour by torchlight through the Vikings – Beyond the legend exhibition with the mysterious storyteller Odin. Go Viking myth busting and decipher fact from fiction in this interactive family friendly experience. Once you know the truth about Vikings, have fun making your own Viking shields and jewellery to take home. Then enjoy Viking themed refreshments.
The Viking family torchlight tour is $18 per child and $15 per adult.
VIKING INVASION FAMILY FUN DAY
Sunday 18 January 2014: 10am – 4pm
Brace yourself - the museum is about to be invaded by Vikings! The National Maritime Museum is inviting families to come and enjoy a full day of Viking fun in a special event presented by Viking reenactors. Play like a Viking with traditional games and tournaments, learn to fight like a Viking in interactive displays of battle tactics and armour, trade like a Viking at market stalls and craft like a Viking with artisan demonstrations and workshops.
Entry to the Viking Invasion Family Fun Day and Viking exhibition are included in the special Viking ticket – adults $27, child/concession $16, family $70.
