Victorian IGA stores have exceeded expectations with donations to three local not-for-profit organisations, community groups and worthy causes across the state for 2009.

The three major beneficiaries, from the Victorian IGA Community Chest and other associated fundraisers for the year, include Country Fire Authority who received $290,430, Run For The Kids receiving $70,000 and a further $65,000 which went to the Reach foundation.

The IGA Community Chest initiative is a program that operates 52 weeks a year and is run throughout the IGA supermarket network across Australia. A guaranteed percentage is given back to the community when customers purchase a product bearing the IGA Community Chest logo.
