Tom Ford Velvet Orchid is an Oriental Floral that evolves the carnal grandeur and seductive power of the iconic Tom Ford Black Orchid into an uber-feminine fragrance lavished with notes of cool citrus, dramatic petals, honey and rum.

Velvet Orchid rapidly reveals its own identity, as it pushes the DNA of the original Black Orchid flower into new territory.  The woods and spices of the original scent recede and a contrasting veil of floralcy casts a shadow of ultra-femininity throughout.
 
The Fragrance

Velvet Orchid retains Black Orchid's instantly recognisable elements: a fresh, lush petal facet; animalic notes and skin-lacquering warmth, and re-imagines these elements into a fragrance with a uniquely compelling nature.

Italian bergamot and Mandarin Orpur™ drive the opening with cool and gem-like brilliance.  Succan absolute"an ultra-purified rum extraction"lends a caramelised, lacquered sugar cane note. A luminous honey note offers texture and dimension that meets the fragrance's soft and creamy vanilla background. Wild and warm, the honey and vanilla together suggest the carnal presence of skin-on-skin.

The floral core is filled with corporeal floral notes.  A Velvet Orchid accord comprising jasmine absolute, rose oil from Turkey and the lush, Cattleva Leopoldii orchid Scent Trek™"a fuchsia orchid from the forests of coastal Southern Brazil" intertwines with Tom Ford's signature Black Orchid accord. Orange blossom and rose absolute Morocco lend tender substance and body to this floral heart, as heliotropin dusts it with delicate floral salt, heightening the nearly edible, savory nectar. Magnolia, jonquil and hyacinth cast a distinctive, contrasting shadow of ultra-feminine floralcy.

The base of the fragrance is intensely rich and warm.   Wizened Peru balsam darkly enriches the composition. Labdanum, sandalwood and myrrh resinoid Orpur™ round out the base as the elegant grandeur of a textured, raw suede accord infused with Comoro Island vanilla binds Velvet Orchid to the skin.

The Bottle

The iconic, fluted glass Black Orchid bottle is recast in a new shade of glossy, dark purple touched with black. The Velvet Orchid bottle is adorned with a gold toned plaque and neck cord and packaged in a ribbed, folding carton in glossy, purple-black. The Velvet Orchid carton is finished with gold toned name plaque on the front and the gold toned "TF" logo stamped on the top.
