This weekend at Dinner Plain sees the village's fourth annual SnowExcuse – a showcase of food, wine & family fun. Now in its fourth year, the weekend celebrates Dinner Plain's local cooking talent and the village's culinary connections. The SnowExcuse celebration also marks the official launch of the 2014 snow season.
Dinner Plain Alpine Village continues to establish itself as the gourmet focus of the Victorian Alps. This year, the talents of Masterchef contestant Michael Demagistris and Movida's Sunny Gilbert come to Dinner Plain to mix it up with the local chefs to create completely bespoke menus for this celebration.
SnowExcuse is not just about dining and chefs. Sunday 8 June at 1pm will mark the official moment that the ski season opens at Dinner Plain, with a fireworks display lighting up the skies at 6pm. Get the best seat in the house on the front deck of Alphutte and keep warm with a Gluhwein in hand.
The activities at neighbouring Mt Hotham will ensure a jam packed itinerary for all visitors to the mountain this weekend with a stunning art exhibition at Hotham Central. Melbourne artist, Nick Morris will have his stunning acrylics, collage and screenprints on display, which use images from post-war popular culture, Australiana and some photographs from his own personal collection.
The Burton Riglet Team will also be stopping by at Hotham Central for the inaugural 2014 Burton Riglet Australian Tour. Kids aged 3-6 will have the chance to experience the sensation of snowboarding in a fun, safe and effective learning environment free of charge.
Snow or no snow, there is so much fun to be had at Hotham and Dinner Plain this weekend.
