The Rocks Summer Festival

The Rocks precinct will be transformed into a colourful urban playground for Australia Day 2016 (Tue 26 Jan, 12.30-6pm), featuring a free all-day music program with some of Australia's hottest new bands; great eats; markets and a relaxed summer vibe.

Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority is very proud to play a key role in Australia Day 2016, with a day of special events planned for Australia's premier tourist and historic precinct, The Rocks.

From noon to early evening the precinct will come alive, starting with Jaunt on George Street. The normally bustling street will convert into a cool, relaxed, urban space, complete with a croquet green from Croquet NSW, a caravan playing Triple J's iconic hottest 100, instant photo booth, and an opportunity to -sky gaze' in comfort.

Two main stages: Warrane at First Fleet Park and Tallawoladah at Atherden Street; will be home for the day to a who's who of eclectic, Australian summer sounds.

Alt-pop legend Katy Steele of Little Birdy fame; the Melbourne Ska Orchestra; smooth soulful sensation Thandi Phoenix; pop-outfit Jinja Safari; and high-energy Indigenous Torres Strait Island rapper, Mau Power; will rock the Warrane Stage.

Sydney based folktronica songstress Gordi; electronic duo Left.; ethereal Indigenous Brisbane singer-songwriter Robbie Miller; Sydney's old school soul and R&B connoisseurs JONES Jnr.; and prolific Aussie hip-hop artist Tuka; will spread the good vibes from Tallawoladah Stage.

With arts and crafts markets, food markets, a sun-soaked harbour view, cool tunes and relaxed summery feel, The Rocks will again be the place to celebrate the very best of Sydney life this Australia Day.

The Rocks is easy to get to by public transport or is a short stroll or bicycle ride from the CBD. Australia Day at The Rocks attracted more than 100,000 visitors between midday and 6pm in 2015.
