The Push Pop Up Stage at Moomba Festival

With FREE entry, the Push Pop Up Stage will present three of young music fans' current live favourites in The Smith Street Band, Chance Waters and Remi, as well as showcasing the best young bands from around the state.

The Push has presented the Beats stage at Moomba for the past five years and Moomba is delighted to welcome the FReeZA Push Start Band Comp Grand Final along with special guests to the brand new Push Pop Up Stage on Monday March 10th. The Moomba and Push collaboration is an exciting opportunity for upcoming artists to play at a large public festival and to present some exceptional music for an under-age audience.

A solid serving of Australia's finest Hip Hop will be dished up by recently crowned triple j Unearthed Artist of the Year Remi along with Chance Waters, the Sydney MC who landed two songs in the 2012 triple j Hottest 100 with -Maybe Tomorrow' in at #89 and -Young & Dumb' at #45. Direct from inner city Melbourne, The Smith Street Band, headed up by the indomitable Wil Wagner, are known for their hard hitting yet simple punk aesthetic and direct immediate lyricism that rings so true to Australian audiences.

This year's nine FReeZA Push Start finalists going head-to-head to win music industry prize packs and recognition are Alkali Fly (Croydon), Baking Blind (Dingley), Residual (Geelong), Darcy Fox (Moe), Listerdale (Wodonga), The Rims (Alphington), Bel Air (Ballarat), Worship The Fallen (Mildura) and Great John Himself (Airport West).

The FReeZA Push Start Band Comp is funded through the FReeZA program, a Victorian Government Initiative.  Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith said '350 young bands have already performed at 60 FReeZA Push Start events across Victoria this year. It is fitting that the Grand Final is showcased as part of the iconic Moomba Festival.  The Victorian government is really pleased to be working in partnership with The Push and Moomba to provide a stage for these talented young performers."

Previous years finalists have gone on to become household names like The Vasco Era, Behind Crimson Eyes, Kisschasy, Airbourne and Michael Paynter to name just a few. Unearthing raw talent is something that The Push and FReeZA Push Start have become renowned for. The competition is an event not to be missed and best of all this year ENTRY IS FREE!
