ABC ME has acquired Australian rights to 'The Listies Work for Peanuts', a live action kids comedy set deep in the 'burbs which follows The Listies, Rich (the smart one) and Matt (the other one), as they cycle through a variety of bizarre jobs in order to pay their 83/4 -year-old landlord Abernathy Peanuts.
Directed by Natalie Van Den Dungen (Bunny New Girl), the 5-part eight minute series was created and produced by Judi McCrossin (The Time of Our Lives), Kate Keegan and The Listies' Richard Higgins and Matthew Kelly with principal production investment from Screen Australia.
Actress Asmara Feik (True History of the Kelly Gang, Upright with Tim Minchin) plays Abernathy Peanuts, alongside other guest stars including Justine Clarke and children's author Andy Griffiths. In a joint statement The Listies said: "We are exploding with pride to announce that our TV series will screen on ABC ME this November! This is a life time ambition of ours and we are overjoyed to join the stack of great shows on ABC ME. We'd like to sincerely thank our fellow producer/creators Judi McCrossin and Kate Keegan, as well as our director Natalie Van Den Dungen and stars Andy Griffiths, Justine Clarke and Asmara Feik as well as all of the team who worked so darn hard to help us get a talking potato joke on the telly. We couldna done it without ya."
It's been a record-breaking year for Higgins and Kelly, with the pair enjoying sold-out seasons both here and abroad. Previously the pair's 2009 show 'More Fun than a Wii' went on to be the first kids show ever to be nominated for the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Most Outstanding Festival Show - The Barry Award. The Listies have also published two books with Penguin and released three comedy albums.
The Listies Work for Peanuts premieres Monday, 11th November at 4.35pm with episodes going out daily. It will be available on ABC iview and the ME app.
