Running Time: 110 minutes
Synopsis: Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have quietly made a name for themselves writing and directing unnerving, adventurous and genre-confounding horror films, and with their third collaboration The Endless they turn their idiosyncratic gaze onto the experience of growing up in a cult.
When brothers Justin and Aaron (played by the directors themselves) were children, their mother died in a car accident and they were taken in and raised by a collectivist commune of apparently mild-mannered beer makers with -interesting' beliefs. As they grew older, Justin eventually rebelled and left the commune, dragging Aaron with him, and their highly publicised -escape from the UFO death cult' has since dominated their lives.
When the brothers receive a cryptic message on a video tape from one of the members of the commune, they decide their return could be a means of giving the earlier portion of their lives a sense of closure. But something is wrong within the commune; the smiles of the members seem forced, there's unexplained phenomena constantly occurring around the camp and everyone is anticipating a momentous event: The Ascension.
