In its eleventh year this August, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, Australia's premier Indigenous art, film and cultural event, presents "From Country to Couture - The DAAF Fashion Show". "From County to Couture - The DAAF Fashion Show" celebrates the marriage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contemporary fine art and high-end fashion. The success of the textile design movement in remote Indigenous communities has led to exciting collaborations with a number of Australian designers.
Indigenous model Magnolia Maymuru from East Arnhem Land will hit the catwalk for the 2017 fashion show, after debuting at the inaugural runway show presented in 2016 as part of the fair's ten-year anniversary celebrations.
