Poised to delight Melbourne audiences at the Athenaeum Theatre from 15 July, The Comedy of Errors was Shakespeare's first comedic play and considered to be one of his best.

The Australian Shakespeare Company Artistic Director, Glenn Elston places his inspired comedic touch on a production that draws on the style of commedia dell'arte combined with the surreal and absurd that breathes new life into Shakespeare's much loved text.

The Comedy of Errors is a joyful journey of the chaos and confusion. Its popularity stems from its sublime farce that incorporates not one but two sets of identical twins - allowing for a compounding number of 'errors' to unfold as the play progresses. This fast paced comedy will take audiences on a roller coaster day of mistaken identity that leads to seduction, arrest, infidelity, beatings, theft and general all round madness, and ends (of course) in resolving and reuniting all concerned.

The talented cast includes Brendan O'Connor, Simon Mallory, Terri Brabon, Ross Williams, Kevin Hopkins, Hugh Sexton, Josephine Bloom, Syd Brisbane, Adrian Dart, Tony Rive, Shireen Morris, Phil Lambert, Doru Surcel, Lisa Angove and Sally McLean.
