Cat's out of the bag: the live stage show of Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat is coming to Australia!

Capturing hearts and minds for over 60 years, the live stage production of best-selling children's book, Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, is returning to Australia in 2024 for an exclusive Melbourne-only summer tour.

Providing a fun, affordable, and nostalgic experience for the entire family, The Cat in the Hat features a full scale set with over 70 original props and costumes, and is produced by world-renowned Australasian promotions company, Showcase Entertainment Group.

Credited as the world's leading rendition of this cult classic favourite, the exhilarating 50-minute live show introduces young minds to the magic of theatre and offers an engaging way for children to disconnect from technology over the school holidays and celebrate a literary classic.

Published in 1957 and only 200 words long, The Cat in the Hat tells the story of two siblings, Sally and Sam, home alone and bored on a wet and dreary day. Without notice, the brother and sister duo are graced with a surprise visit from a stranger - a cat in his red and white striped hat!

Along with his friends, Thing One and Thing Two, this iconic feline uses the power of play and imagination to pass the time away and turn the house upside down with mess and excess. Not deterred by Sally and Sam's outspoken and outraged pet fish, The Cat uses his 'picker-up machine' to save the day so nothing is amiss.

Initially adapted for stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Britain, the production further explores Dr. Seuss's early philosophies in phonetic learning and educational science, and explore moral concepts of trust, responsibility, social expectations, and honesty.

Including scripted audience interaction with the world's most famous anthropomorphic cat, and his friends, Thing One and Thing Two, there's also photo opportunities to enjoy, games to play, prizes to be won, and branded merchandise available so little ones can relive the story at home for years to come.

Ideal for the entire family, including children as young as three, tickets start from $27.50 per person and are currently available for pre-sale at discounted early-bird pricing.
