Kick off your shoes, feel the lawn between your toes and relax with an afternoon of fun, music and games when The Big Issue hosts its second Barefoot Bowls fundraiser at Fitzroy Bowling Club.
After the huge success of The Big Issue's first barefoot bowls event in 2013, the competition is back, bigger and better in 2014 with an afternoon of activities and special performances. It's a laid back affair for the whole family featuring Melbourne personalities, delicious food and drinks – all to support The Big Issue's important work with Victoria's homeless and disadvantaged community.
Up to 650 guests will enjoy a stellar afternoon of bowls featuring expert commentary from MC Stew Farrel (Triple R) and spirited competition from team captains and players: Andrew Weldon, Lauren Gawne, Alan Attwood, Ricky French, Mic Looby, Tracee Hutchison, Julie Nihill, Mel Cranenburg, Cat McGauren and Lorin Clarke.
The fundraiser, which supports The Big Issue's hardworking vendors, will also feature live performances by Clare Bowditch, Tim Rogers and Mick Thomas and The Roving Commission.
Get behind this great cause and help The Big Issue team achieve their goal of raising between $15,000 and $20,000 to support homeless and disadvantaged vendors in Victoria.
With more than 100 vendors throughout Victoria in locations including metropolitan Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo, Maryborough, Ballarat and Wangaratta, plus more than 500 around Australia, The Big Issue team benefits from public fundraising which allows them to continue to give disadvantaged people a road to independence.
