This November, West African Festival Inc (WAF) will launch the African Rhythm & Roots Festival for the first time, showcasing the sounds, sights, tastes and the spirit of West Africa. WAF has been bringing the rich and diverse African and African-Australian culture to Sydney for its 6th year running. As a highlight on the multicultural arts events calendar, this event features Australia's most prominent West African musicians and dancers of both African and Australian origin, drum and dance workshops, food and cultural stalls.
This event will be held in Marrickville on Saturday the 5th of November at Addison Road Community Centre. Festivities will begin from midday to 9pm. Along with a stellar line up of high energy and multi-award winning international Afro and Reggae artists such as Afro Moses, Chris Gudu, King Tide and Keyim Ba, traditional and modern food and beverages will also be available. Afro Kidz, a dynamic dancing and drumming troupe of African Australian dancers and drummers aged from six to fifteen will also be performing. Colourful artisan market stalls will offer a wide range of African textiles, arts and crafts, musical instruments and artefacts.
