The 17th Greek Film Festival opens on Wednesday 13 October with Nisos – Scandalous affairs, unsolved crimes and hidden double lives play out as the sudden death of an island local unearths a lot of secrets. Repeat screenings on Saturday 16 and Wednesday 20 October.

The zombies of 2005's Evil return in a sequel that delivers double the blood, double the gore and double the fun of the original. Kicking off where the last film ended, a new group of survivors are fighting their way out of an Athens crawling with the ghoulish undead, hungry for human flesh. Manic, maniacal and hilariously fun, Evil - In the Time of Heroes is a splatter-fest comedy of the darkest order, featuring a cameo from Billy Zane as a zombie-hunting monk from the past. Screening as a double feature on Friday 15 October and again on Thursday 28 October.

On Monday 18 October American cinema star Willem Dafoe brings an international flavour to Theo Angelopoulos' second instalment in his latest trilogy, The Dust of Time, which tells the story of a filmmaker creating a film about his parent's life-story only to have his own story as a parent become part of the picture. A sprawling tale filmed across five countries, it combines an international cast to tell an inherently Hellenic tale.

On Thursday 21 and Sunday 31 October creative expression clashes with the law and mainstream culture in Artherapy, an examination of three young artists' struggles in contemporary Athens.
